Sónar, one of the world’s most important electronic music festivals, has just turned 25. The Istanbul leg of the festival was organized for the first time last year and made a very big impact.  The festival, which was held at Zorlu PSM again on 6-7 April this year, brought together many names from musician to an academic, researcher to a scientist that produce in the music world; it went beyond being a music festival and offered an instructive and experimental platform.

The program includes; Adrien M & Claire B’s project, Hakanaï,  that eliminates the boundaries of imagination and the real world; Architect Liam Young, who is focusing on the fears and the miracles of the drone age, and Producer Forest Sword’s collaborative work “I Spy With My Machine Eye”; Hyper_hologram which presents  the applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning to its audience in digital magic; Hero ヘロ, which is the second inter-continental collaboration of Onur Sönmez and Motoi Shimizu after the Mandalay Installation; Daito Manabe and Satoshi Horii’s project Phaenomena which consists of drones, robots and 3D images; Ethem Cem, Tiber Ergür and Enes Özenbaş’s projects Phaenomena which is installed on the relationship between individuals and nature; Alva Noto’s latest project Unigeav that is created with distorted electronic sounds on a digital landscape.

Creativity is one of the main forces that changed reality in the 21st century. Digi.logue, which focuses on creativity and technology, is the main sponsor of Sonar + D, which nurtures creativity with technology and is based on cultural interaction within Sonar, one of the most important platforms of our time.

Audiovisual performances with a Digilogue presentation were among the most notable at the festival, which featured over 100 artists. Audiovisual performances have been  in almost every festival in recent years and are an interesting area for many.  It is very important for the artist to make their creativity uninhibited through technology. Behind those kind of performances, which also paves the way for multidisciplinary works, can sometimes be a single artist and sometimes a group.
